Masks, Super Powers, and Llamas – 7 Memorable Infographics

From across the Internets, gathered from the farthest reaches of the blogosphere, comes this startling collection of infographics!

I, for one, did not know there were this many types of llamas. And now I know! Feel free to save this image as a handy reference-guide for creating your next year’s halloween costume. It’s a great example of what you can do with a simple template if you’re creative.

Now, before you click through and see the description of these masks, see how many you can recognize by their shape alone. Every one of them is used in a film. You get bonus points if you can name the character whose mask it is.

I’ve always wanted to have superpowers, and I figured I would achieve them by some combination of #3 (Gain Vast Intellect) and #7 (Build Metal Suit). How do you want to become a hero?

Awesome Timelapse Videos

I have been seeing a lot of really cool timelapse videos over the past year. They’re created from thousands of still photos stitched together to create a really cool effect.

To speed up time, the artist takes a picture every 2-30 seconds and puts it into a video format. A normal video is usually 25 or 30 frames (pictures) per second, so a timelapse speeds up time hundreds of times faster than what you would actually be seeing.

Below are some of my favorite time lapse videos of all time:

Last year I started experimenting with creating time lapse videos myself. These were made with my Canon 5D mark II. The first one is from our trip to New York City for Fashion Week from January – I left the camera running overnight. It was my first attempt – what do you think?

The second one is a format I’m experimenting with right now – where I just use my whole photo album and put it in a timelapse. I rather like the effect.

Flickr Friday – #22

After a small hiatus – we’re back! And with a brand new look for the site to boot – so how do you like it? Ray is off on super secret agent missions so I’ll be running the site from now on. “Hi! {waves}” I love the community here and share your passion for design, photography, and pretty shiny things. I’m super excited and am really looking forward to making this rock! (If you’re at all interested you can check out my personal / lifestyle design site & photos here: Living on Impulse. So now that we’re back to our regularly scheduled programming, what better way to get back into the groove of things than Flickr Friday?

We had a lot of awesome photos submitted to our flickr pool since the last roundup so it was REALLY hard picking the best ones – and we’re surely leaving a lot of great ones out (sorry, that guy/girl, you know who you are – your photo was also awesome). Flickr Friday – #21

It’s Friday and that can only mean one thing! It’s Flickr Friday and the 21st week of it. Kick off those shoes and put your feet up with a bowl of popcorn on your belly and a chilled beverage at arms length as we bring you nothing short of the finest talent on flickr. The most elegant compliment we could possibly give a photographer is feature them in one of these posts so if you see your work pop up here consider yourself to be a photography snob. If you would think your great work is going unnoticed there’s a solution for you! That solution is to dump all of your work in our flickr group pool. We have a couple of moderators who swim in that pool looking for things they like. No pun intended.

Albrecht Duerer / 21 May 1471 ? 6 April 1528 / A German painter, printmaker and theorist from Nuremberg. His prints established his reputation across Europe when he was still in his twenties, and he has been conventionally regarded as the greatest artist of the Northern Renaissance ever since. His well-known works include ‘Apocalypse’ woodcuts, ‘Knight, Death and the Devil’ / 1513 /, ‘Saint Jerome in his Study’ / 1514 / and ‘Melancolia I’ / 1514 /, which has been the subject of extensive analysis and interpretation. His watercolours mark him as one of the first European landscape artist, while his ambitious woodcuts revolutionized the potential of that medium. Duerer’s introduction of classic motifs into Northern art, through his knowledge of Italian artists and German humanists, have secured his reputation as one of the most important figures of the Northern Renaissance. This is reinforced by his theoretical treatise, which involve principles of mathematics, perspective and ideal proportions.

Why Use 'And' When You Can Use '&'

This is a campaign to encourage the use of the ampersand over the three character word ‘and’. The campaign is titled ‘why use and when you can use &.’ This was applied to a variety of products that were handed out as promotion for the form of the ampersand & its many forms within typography. The genius behind this campaign is scott marc berry from Leeds, United Kingdom. He can be found on his behance page or his website.

Now, a lot of you might be wondering where our Flickr Friday and Weekly Fix of Inspiration post had gone off last week. They were on holiday and it turns out they weren’t having a good time. Both of them were chased by laser-eyed sharks who were riding polar bears. This all, of course, happened when they crash landed on an island and a dog called Vincent got them rescued. But that’s a whole different story and if you’re stumbling across this kind of post for the first time, here’s a little something letting you know that it’s all about – Designers, typography enthusiasts and photographers all over the world will be glad to know it’s the weekend. That means that today we bring you the Weekly Fix of Inspiration and today we’re on week 28.
